Again, just my opinion. Firmwares are available here: A Google search reveals that there are many reports of similar problems: Now that I have update it, it seems to be able to read any non retail disc of ht-dt–st kind, given I havent tried any other discs but this weird brand my room mate gave me.
Maybe with a fresh Windows Ht-dt-sf, your problem will disappear. All times are GMT. And perhaps the requirements for a guarantee repair are outrageous, like “wipe the disk and restore the OS from media before sending the machine in”.

A burner just needs to recognize a blank media, especialy dvd, to burn content onto it with the correct ht-dt-sst that is backed up into the firmware. Another thing to try, turn your GWAB into a GSAB, but beware there may be difficulties if you want to change it back didn’t bother reading the entire thread to see if more was mentioned about this I read about BartPE before, but forgot all about it.

Sorry Karan, I started the 2nd thread about what happens when you uninstall a device… but it ended up turning into the same topic too. Any other suggestions regarding the -R recognition? A mix of the 3 brands… none of which recognize. Not sure what to do but just buy a new one on my own or deal with the problems I am having.
